The magnetic with drone survey system (MAG-DRONE) was implemented by VALDOR SUDAM\u00c9RICA in order to acquire high resolution magnetic measurements in any flight direction and in a shorter time, thus reducing acquisition costs. In the same way as the terrestrial method, the MAG-DRONE method measures the anomalies resulting from the Earth's magnetic field due to the magnetic properties of the surrounding rocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The method acquisition consists of establishing a base magnetometer (fixed on the ground) in the survey area that will control the diurnal variation of the magnetic field, while the MAG-DRONE system flies over the grid lines measuring the magnetic field as it passes through, with a resolution of 0.1 s (10 Hz). The flight height will depend on the topography ruggedness and can vary from 30 m in semi-flat areas to 70 m in rugged areas. The MAG-DRONE system has successfully completed several surveys, with difficult geographical and climatic conditions, exceeding flight altitudes of 5,000 m.a.s.l.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Magnetic prospecting has a wide range of applications. Through the analysis, 2D\/3D modeling and interpretation of magnetic anomalies, the MAG-DRONE method allows the location of iron ores and ferromagnetic formations with gold mineralization, skarns, porphyries and mineralization associated with ferromagnetic minerals. On the other hand, the method is applied in the prospection of chromites and manganese, location of sulfide occurrences associated to magnetite and\/or pyrrhotite, as well as location of kimberlite veins, asbestos and placer deposits. The method is also very useful in the geological mapping of rock units with magnetic susceptibility contrast, structural mapping (faults, fractures, shear zones, folds, etc.) and exploration of deposits related to bedrock topography (stratiform Pb-Zn deposits, uranium in sedimentary-conglomerate environments).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
